Prof. Robert L. Mullins
Robert is an experienced educational and industrial professional with 43 years of experience. He obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of Southern Mississippi with a double major inIndustrial and Architectural Technology. He went on to receive his graduate degree in Educational Administration while at Southern Mississippi and later completed an additional thirty eight hours in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi.
Robert started employment as an instructor in the community college system and served as a Director, Dean, and Vice President of Economic Development. He then moved to a senior management position with the startup of the Nissan North America manufacturing facility in central Mississippi where he was responsible for the initial and continuous training of over 3000 technical employees and 450 professional employees. Robert later became responsible for training at all three Nissan manufacturing plants located in North America. He is currently CEO of R. L. Mullins Consulting and serves as the subject matter expert in Advanced Manufacturing Programs .
Robert has coordinated programs between colleges, universities, and business and industry to validate training practices are aligned with industry demands. He has been a leader in providing customized training to optimize business and industry production and efficiency. He has served on benchmarking trips to multiple industries to review Best in Class activities in North America, England, Japan, and Brazil. He was a key contributor in the development and implementation of training center facilities at colleges and Nissan facilities at domestic and international locations.
Robert consults with the State of Mississippi Development Authority to recruit new industry to the state. He currently serves on theGovernor’s State Workforce Council.
